Accessibility of this website

The goal of the City of Barcelona is that all people, regardless of their disability, age or accessing the web using unconventional technologies, can navigate the Web portal pages, in this case the Ombudsman of Barcelona Web without experiencing access difficulties.

To achieve this objective, are taking into account the accessibility guidelines WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0) set by the working group WAI (Web Accessibilitty Initiative) which belongs to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).

New functionalities

Some of the features that have been implemented in the website Ombudsman Barcelona to allow access to all content:

  • The visual characteristics of the site (font, font color and background, etc..) are defined by the style sheet so that the users can adjust the text to their preferences.
  • Accessible design allows the user to adjust the default font size on the screen, making it easier to read. There are different ways to do this, depending on the browser used. The following table shows how to change the font size from the menu of different browsers:

Com modificar la mida del text

    Browser Menu commands
Firefox View > Text size > Increase / Decrease
Internet Explorer View > Text size > Bigger
Internet Explorer Mobile View > Zoom > Bigger
Google Chrome Veure > Bigger (Control +)
    Opera View > Zoom > %
Safari View > Make text bigger
  • If a user accesses the Ombudsman of Barcelona Web with a browser that does not support style sheets, it will not be a difficulty, since pages have been developed to provide a resource of content if there is no support.
  • Pages have a clear structure for both users that can see all the content as for users that read the information on a screen reader, or users who disable the style sheet, etc. Under this goal, has been defined the section headings, lists, and all the elements that help the general understanding of the site.

Various formats and new technologies.

Due to the advance of new technologies the City Council provides citizen services, applications and documents in other formats, which sometimes require a program (software) or a plugin to access the content. In all cases, the support is free and open to all. If you do not have these resources they can be accessed at the following web resources to download:
